The history of the property starts with a 2,000-acre grant made to George Innes on 30 June 1823.
Innes built a cottage and established a water-powered corn mill as early as 1825, and named it The Yarrows.
In 1861 Thomas Kite bought The Yarrows and renamed it Yarras.
He then remodelled the present home in 1863 as a wedding gift to his daughter.
It is unknown what date the 1825 mill closed. However, it was converted to a Shearing Shed in the 1920s and a slip-form bush-concrete barn and stables was built, using river gravel from the property’s rivulet.
